Literacy
Literacy is central to our work. As a grassroots organization, we have seen the ways literacy education opens a world of opportunity for women and girls firsthand. Adbar promotes women’s literacy as a tool for personal growth and social change. We encourage networking, education, action, and resource development.
For adult learners, Adbar offers basic English classes, computer classes, and tutoring for other marketable skills.
Adbar can also assist with pre and post adoption consulting, Amharic lessons for adoptive parents and travelers, translation and interpretation, job readiness skills, job placement and job referrals, legal assistance, cultural and social events, mentoring, and access to programs and benefits.
We promote and foster early reading activities to assist in children's language and cognitive development. We educate parents and help them to take an active role in the cognitive and verbal development of their children from an early age.
